Summertime

I feel like my blog starts to slack a little every single summer.

And by "a little" I clearly mean A LOT since I'm averaging a new blog post about once per week.

Somehow, every summer our days and nights become jam packed with "stuff" I'm not even sure what, why or how, but it just happens. It seems like being busy would mean fun and interesting stuff to blog about, but alas it does not.

So for memory's sake I will write about what the Tree's have been up to.

This past week Luke was at church camp playing in the worship band and left Eli and I here all alone. I definitely would have gone with him but I had to work at the beginning of the week so Eli and I stayed home alone and lived in fear of seeing a snake at every turn.

Actually Monday we went and spent the night with our friends. Hubby/Daddy being out of town is the perfect opportunity for a sleepover!

We went to Sarah's house for a sleepover and we watched the series finale of One Tree Hill and did not hesistate to express our dissatisfaction with the show. Although it does not take away my love for the show. I might be a tad too obsessed with it.

Wednesday Luke came home for a church function and then Eli and I loaded up with him in the car and headed back to camp.

Well actually we didn't stay at camp. We stayed at Luke's parents home, even though they were out of town.

We tried to get Eli to swim in the pool but all he wanted to do was sweep the pool deck.

I don't really like to swim either so maybe he got it from me.

That night Eli and I drove out to the camp site to hang out for awhile. I thought he would enjoy watching his dad like he normally does, but instead he wanted to join his dad which was not an option.

Which then caused him to FREAK OUT and scream for his DADADADA while I ran him outside like some crazed lunatic trying to abduct him.

He screamed for a good 10 minutes because he was stuck outside with the wicked witch mom instead of inside with the prince dad and then tried to get in this car for a good 5 minutes.

I have no idea whose car this is or WHY my child wanted in it. One of the many mysteries in my life.

The next day we just hung out and had some family time.

We drove back home in time for me to hang out with Sarah, Ashley and Katie. Ashley was in town for the day so we got together for lunch and let the babes play. Sometimes they played together, sometimes they fought together, and sometimes they looked at us like we were crazy when trying to get a picture of all of them looking at us. It was a good morning.

Sunday morning I had to work in the 4 and 5 year olds classroom and sometimes Eli has trouble going in his room, so for the first part of class I brought him with me. He sat at the table like a big boy and colored his picture of Elisha. I can't believe how big he looks!

He fell asleep on the way home which is hard because for some reason in baby world 10 minutes of car sleep equals 2 hours of crib sleep, so I try and get him to not fall asleep. I woke him up and stood him in the laundry room while I gathered all of our junk out of the car. When I came back (like 5 seconds later) he had fallen asleep on the laundry room floor.

Poor bubba boy.

Sunday night we had a church picnic to go to. Once again Eli was stuck with the wicked witch mom while prince dad played volleyball.

I never knew after 9 months of weight gain, heartburn, and cramps all leading up to the most pain I had ever experienced in my life that my sweet miracle would prefer the man who went through NONE OF THAT over me.

It's a good thing I'm not bitter.

Eventually Luke learned to play volleyball while holding a 24 pound 16 month old,  because LORD FORBID he hang with mama.

And that brings us to present time. Our family back under one roof and what seems to be a seemingly "normal" week around here.

  1. Hilarious post! #1 your hair looks great in the pictures of Eli screaming. #2 him trying to get in the car is adorable. #3 we do the same thing with avoiding naps in the cars and I love how he fell asleep on the floor! Your boy is just too cute!

  2. Those pictures of Eli crying are too cute. I also second the fact that your hair looks great. I am hair challenged- how do you get curls like that??

  3. I love that you have those pictures of Eli with his big crocodile tears. I take lots of pictures of the kids crying because I swear Eric thinks I make things up half the time. But I'm like no seriously...he cried the whole way through Target. here's proof. Haha!

And I agree with your friends above...your hair looks awesome. It ALWAYS looks awesome. And I want your red shorts :-)

  5. Okay...I can totally sympathize with the crying baby and the whole not being appreciated for the 40 weeks of hard work plus the grand finale for these beautiful babies, but it looks like u had a lot of fun too lately! And yes your hair rocks. I don't think I have the ability to get my hair to curl like that... and stay that way also.

  6. I don't really like swimming either. I prefer to let my husband do the swimming with our son.

  7. I secretly love the pics of the smiling Mama and screaming baby. So what happens in this house too. If these kids only knew what we went through for them. Geez.

And you give me serious hair envy. Sigh..
