It was overdue and much needed.
Of course with an eight month old baby in tow, a weekend no longer entails sleeping in. My 6:00am wake up call doesn't seem so wonderful in the wee hours of the morning, but at the end of the day I love that I was able to get up early and get so much done. Plus Eli is so happy in the morning it's hard to not be happy along with him.
Luke and I have been looking forward to this weekend knowing that we had no plans. Our only plan was to stay in and be lazy and just hang out as a family.
We got an extra bonus because we had a thunderstorm almost the entire day. We both love a good thunderstorm.
A cold day, at home, in my pj's, with my two favorite guys while a thunderstorm brews outside? Yes please!
The day started off with an amazing breakfast that Luke made for us. Pancakes, bacon, eggs and juice. Yum yum. He also picked this up for me at the store the other day:

We played around in the living room for awhile, eating and watching soccer. Yes we watch soccer every Saturday morning. It has become Luke's new favorite thing for us to do as a family. This little guy could careless about the soccer game but it's still fun to watch it together.

In the middle of the day all 3 of us managed to squeeze in a nap.
Also, Harry Potter was on ABC Family all day, while it poured rain outside. It was a GREAT day.
We ended the day by going to a friend's house for a birthday party and to watch football. Food, Football and friends = fun fun fun.
It's simple days like these that I sit back and thank God for the little things he has given me. I love the life that Luke and I have built (and are still building) together.
I love being busy and having lots of places to go and people to see, but every so often it is nice to calm down and just spend a day at home. It was much needed!
