Luke and I cannot believe that our sweet Eli is already one month old!!
Here is what Eli has been up to:
- He is still in newborn diapers. We ran out of those so I tried using size 1's because we have a TON of those but they kept leaking. I just couldn't get them tight enough around his skinny little body. So back to newborn diapers we went.
- We went to the doctor on Tuesday and he weighed 7 lbs 14 ounces and was 21 inches long.
- He is a good eater and does such a good job breastfeeding, eating every 2-3 hours during the day and every 4-5 hours at night. I'm still exclusively breastfeeding and plan to do this as long as I can. It is BY FAR the hardest thing I have ever done for many reasons. I forseee a future post about this......
- He hates his swing. That sucker was $$$ so he better start to like it soon! :-)
- He loves his vibrating bouncer. On days when I shower (which is not everyday now) I put him in his bouncer and he is calm and content.
- He takes naps in his crib during the day and still sleeps in a cradle next to our bed at night. I have no idea when I will move him to his crib. Probably once he is sleeping through the night.
- He is wearing all newborn clothes. I try and put 0-3 clothes on him but they are way too big!
- He is very good in the car and usually just goes right to sleep.
- We go walking everyday and he seems to like it. It relaxes him.
- He is starting to like tummy time more. At first he hated it, but now he will look around for a couple of minutes before getting fussy.
- I've stared putting him on his playmat and he seems content for a bit. It has a little noisemaker that lights up and he stares at that for a bit before wanting to be picked up.
- He stays alert longer during the day and tries to talk to us. He will be "cooing" before we know it!
- Eli and I have already gone on two small road trips in the past month. On Wednesday of this week we drove to my hometown. We had a full day! We lunched with friends, went to my mom's school so she could show him off to her teacher friends and students and then hung out at my parents house the rest of the day. It was a great day!
Here I am with my two of my favorite boys; Eli and my nephew, who is a happy boy but doesn't smile for the camera. It will be so fun to watch them play together one day!
This past month has been an incredible month learning the ins and outs of life with a baby and adjusting to life as a family of 3. We are so in love with our little guy and of course think we got the cutest baby in the world! :-)

I love the one month update! Sounds like he is doing great1 Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteaww!! you sound like yall are doing amazing! ...hang in there with the breastfeeding thing. i swore i would have a child taped to my chest for the rest of my life. my little girl is about to be 7 months and we are down to 4 times a day. it only gets easier and if you can do it through the first 3 months you will be smooth sailing. i even have to pump at work and though thats a little awkward, its totally worth it. i am making our baby food too - which is really easy to do and thus far on food for my 7 month old, I have spent a total of $15 - for rice cereal, oatmeal and the ingredients to make the other food. bfeeding a great health thing and also way cheap!
ReplyDelete...we didnt move Anne Margaret to her room til close to 5 months. with bfeeding and getting up in the night it was just easier and nicer to have her right there! take care of yourself and keep posting pictures of your adorable little man!
That kid is beyond adorable!!!! And so happy he is healthy and thriving!!! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a cutie! His stats sound so much like my little man when he was that age.
ReplyDeleteStick with the breastfeeding, sounds like you're doing a great job. It gets easier as they get older and aren't eating so often.
We moved our little one to his own room around 4 months - he was sleeping about 8 hours at that time. I'd nurse him around 10, and he'd sleep till 6 or 7.
He'll be two in July & I can't believe where the time has gone! Enjoy every second of it.
Best,
Emily from Nap Time Is My Time
He is such a doll!!! So fun to see you guys on Wednesday!
ReplyDeletejust saw your blog from the blogivers (love how this friend of friend thing works, I read so many blogs of people i don't know personally) anyway, I digress. Thank you for being so candid about your postpartum experience. I am aboout to have a baby any day now ( i pray, 39 wks 3 days) and it is good to know how people feel postpartum. your baby is preciuos and look forward to reading your blog!
ReplyDeleteSO sweet, megan!
ReplyDeleteMy son didn't like his swing at first but grew to like it. He spent a lot of time in it once he was a little bigger. Also, he slept in our room until he was 3.5 months old. He didn't sleep through the night until 9 months. He would wake up between 1-3 and suck down a bottle and then konk back out. The doctor said as long as he was eating and not playing to let him do it.
ReplyDeleteHe is so cute! Love the update!!
ReplyDeleteHave you tried him in the swing, while he is swaddled and it is going pretty fast? The was the only way Aedan liked his baby swing in the early months.
So so cute. Thanks for the update on your little guy. Seems like you are doing a great job!
ReplyDeleteHe is so stinkin' cute I can't even handle it. Can't wait to see more adventures!
ReplyDeleteP.S. going to try my scentsy out tonight. I think I am going to be addicted to them. Even the box smells good!
You are right, that first month just flew by.
ReplyDeleteHe is just perfect.
I so hope we get to meet him on Sunday:) He is just the cutest little boy ever:) Cate and Eli need to get married:)
ReplyDeleteJust PRECIOUS, Megan!! And seeing his adorable little face just makes me want to snuggle with him even more!!! :)
ReplyDeleteKeep enjoying every minute...as I know you and Luke will. Can't wait to read the breast-feeding post!! Ha!
He is so cute! He is almost the exact same stats as Thatcher was at 1 month, though Thatcher weighed a little more. He, too, didn't fit into 0-3 stuff and all of a sudden BOOM he outgrew some stuff that he never even wore! He gained 2 pounds between 1 and 2 months, which is nuts! So keep an eye on that cute wardrobe of his...stuff that swallows him now might be too small soon. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy 1 month to all 3 of you! :) Meggie loved her bouncy seat but hated her swing, too...except that now she's obsessed with all things baby, so she tries to climb in her swing even though she's like five times too big. I think she's going to be very jealous when baby sister comes! :)
ReplyDeleteI still owe you guys a meal - so let me know what would work best for you and I'll get it right over!
Happy 1 Month! He is such a cutie!!
ReplyDeleteHappy 1 month little Eli!! I love his face in the second picture. So much expression.
ReplyDeletePS...did he enjoy his first night of FNL last night?? :)
Ugh. Our swing was a huge waste of money, too! And I've had 2 babies to try it on!
ReplyDeleteHe's adorable, Megan. Glad you are doing so well. This motherhood thing suits you!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe Eli is 1 month old already, time sure does fly! He is absolutely precious.
ReplyDeleteIt seems like this month has flown by. I love those monthly onesies.
