Need to Blog!

Well I haven't been blogging as much as I would like to lately.

I was hoping that I would be able to blog more often during my maternity leave since I am at home all day but that hasn't been the case.

When Eli is awake I want to spend time with him reading to him, or talking to him, or helping with his tummy time, things like that.

Then when he is asleep I am running around cleaning, doing laundry, trying to get myself ready, or just things random around the house.

I seriously can't get over how fast the days fly by!

Plus I haven't had the best blog material. I thought about writing a post last week about my dilemma with finding a baby sling to use, but that's just boring.

And then I thought about writing about how every person I was pregnant with is already back down to their regular size and I'm still 4 sizes bigger. FOUR. I'm having an emotional/mental/LIFE breakdown over here. But nobody wants to hear my whining.

Then I remembered that one of my goals for the new year was to blog for me and to remember things and not worry about being "interesting" so here is what we have been up to lately:

Monday through Thursday Eli and I hang out around the house. We play, he sleeps, I clean, we go on walks, run occasional errands, then Luke gets home around 6:00, we eat dinner, hang out as a family, and sometimes I will shower during that time, then we go to bed.

Luke is home with us during the day on Friday's (since he works on Sunday's) so Friday's have become my favorite days. We all sleep in, well sleeping in has now become 8:30. Our favorite thing to do right now is to all lay in our bed in the morning and just talk to Eli. He has started trying to "coo" back to us a mimick faces we make at him (sticking out our tongues, etc) it is SO much fun to watch him learn and grow.

This weekend I took Eli to church for the first time. It was so fun to be at church as a family of 3 for the first time. I tried not to be the crazy mom with a new baby...tried.

Here we are at church. Eli slept the whole time: Luke thought it was funny/odd that I just wanted to hold that car seat up and not take Eli out. Umm he was sound asleep I was NOT disturbing that sleeping baby!
And here are some random pics of Eli. I am SO bad about using my big camera for pictures. I usually just use my old school iPhone which isn't the best quality. I need to get better about using our fancy schmancy camera or I just need to get rid of it.

He makes the funniest faces:
Little snuggle bug in mom and dad's bed (he doesn't sleep in there, I just moved him there to wake him up to eat but had to snap this picture first)
I am going to try and be better about blogging this week! Our little baby is a month old and I need to do his 1st month post!!

  1. I LOVE his forehead wrinkles. And I SO miss the days of the swaddle me. Now my 11 month old sprawls out all over her crib. I LOVE the newborn stage! But it does get fun with each new stage. Your monday-thursday sounds identical to mine at the time ;) Love it!

  7. As soon as I clicked on this page, my uterus started crying out. My goodness he's adorable. I can't tell you how much I miss a swaddled baby :( Now BG is like a dying walrus (?) in her sleep. Sigh...

Yay for making it to church! Hope you enjoyed getting back.

  8. You're a beautiful Mamma! You'll get back to your prepregnancy size, don't worry! In the meantime be thankful for a healthy baby for being a healthy Mamma! You're so good with him!

  9. Trust me, we new moms understand!

I remember all the things I just knew I was going to do after C was born....but all I did was love on my new baby. Trust me, from a mom of a Lil Man that will be one on Wednesday of this week....love that baby.

Nobody ever told me this before C was born and I really wish they did....Relax!!! If you can't take a shower or put on makeup that day....so what. Life is short. Your baby will grow up before your eyes. Enjoy him while you can!

Do me a favor....take extra long smiling, laughing, smelling, kissing and daydreaming with him. You will thank me later =)

Just by reading your post I know your a great and loving Mama! Congrats on your bundle of joy!

  13. I love hearing about your days as a new mom. Makes me excited to be one someday too! And I love how you are real. It's refreshing. Also, this is just a suggestion, but I thought it would be interesting to hear about your common misconceptions about pregancy, childbirth, motherhood, etc. Kind of like a list of "no one tells you this is how it actually happens". Just thought it would be interesting coming from your perspective. :)

  14. I have a 3 month old, and I am still 3 sizes bigger than I was before! 3!!! I am in the same boat as you since all my friends have practically worn their regular jeans home from the hospital. HOW do they do that?! I think you look fabulous, though!

  17. I can't wait for my time at home with my little man! Y'all are so cute and I'm glad you're feeling more like you're in a routine with him and starting to figure out your new normal (I just read your last post too).

What kind of fancy camera do you have? I want one really badly but then I'm scared I'll be so intimidated and overwhelmed by it that I'll never use it! So it's hard to justify dropping big bucks on one. I'd also have the hardest time deciding which one to get. Would you recommend not getting one if I don't have lots of time to devote to learning how best to use it?
