6/2/10

Bad Hair Day

Holiday weeks throw me off.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE them, but man, they throw me off.

And just in case you are wondering. In my mind a holiday week is when I have one day off of the week. (i.e. we had Monday off of this week)

(i.e. I don't know if I am using i.e. right but my 10th grade biology teacher always used it and it makes me feel smart)

Yesterday Luke and I went to a local Mexican restaurant and I was SO excited because it was 99 cent taco night.

I'm not the biggest fan of tacos, unless they are 99 cents. Then I am taco's #1 fan.

So I asked for several tacos. For the record I asked for more tacos than what I would normally get. I mean they are 99 cents right?

Wrong.

After the less than enthusiastic teenager working the register rang me up he told me my amount, and it was MUCH more than I expected.

To which I told him, umm It's Monday tacos are 99 cents.

To which he said, umm actually it's Tuesday.

Perfect.

Then for reasons I will never know I got up this morning at 5:30 and went to a boot camp class at 6:15.

Clearly I have gone insane.

The class itself wasn't bad if you are into that working out thing.

Which to be honest I'm not really.

I mean, my legs feel like jello right now. WHO WANTS THAT?

But I understand working out is good for the heart, yada, yada. And I don't want knees that look like two elephant butts by the time I'm 30 so it's time to start working out.

And yes I'm still doing the Couch to 5K, also known as the Couch to NEVER.

The boot camp wasn't that bad, other than the fact that I had to run a stadium for 10 minutes and I can't feel my legs.

However it was the aftermath that made me never want to go to boot camp.

It wasn't the smell of my body after rolling around a football turf. (shiver)

It wasn't my shaky jello legs that scared me away from ever going again.

It was my hair.

My hair that looks like somebody stuck my finger in an electric socket.

Which is oddly how my legs feel. Interesting.

I tried straightening it. (my hair not my legs)

I tried curling it.

I tried teasing it to give it some sort of structure other than the look of electrocution.

It wasn't budging.

So here I sit with my nasty hair in a pony tail, looking roooooough, wondering if I will go to boot camp again.

I actually enjoyed getting up early and doing something active, but this nastified hair is about to push me over the edge.

And I'm not even a girly girl, so you know it must be bad!

The next class is Friday morning so we shall see.

Decisions, decisions.

Does anybody else work out in the mornings? What are you secrets for getting ready for work and not having hair that looks like you got struck by lightning?

  1. I've recently started working out in the mornings and am getting addicted. I love having the workout out of the way before I start my day so it doesn't haunt me all day - or doesn't allow me to come up with some excuse for not going.

I'm lucky that where I workout is close to home, so I come home after working out and shower and get ready. But if that's not a possibility - the dry shampoo from Tresseme is worth looking into! Good luck and keep up the good work!

  2. I am so impressed with you! Are you all doing summer hours? No Fridays off this year?

  3. Morning work outs are best for me. My gym is really close to my house so I don't usually have to haul all of my stuff with me, but when I do I use Beyond The Zone Rock On Dry Shampoo it is awesome!

  4. NO WAY I am a morning work out person - BUT, I do get a run in usually before I go lead the youth at church - & they dont care if I stink... but I'll take a shower but usually dont have time to wash the hair... when I work out though - try & get it ALL up as much as possible - I like to use clips - the more you can keep it up & away from sweat, the better. Wear a tiny little hair band too to keep it up off your forehead... if you do it right, when you take it down, you can have some good body too with it being piled up high.

  5. Lord, do I have days like this too ... but I love the taco story. Sounds EXACTLY like something I would do!

  6. Wow, bootcamp sounds like hell! Which is pretty much what I would expect. I'm not too much of a workout fiend, myself, if you can't tell, ha. Good for you though! It takes quite the dedicated lady to wake up that early after a holiday weekend!

And I totally went to Taco Tuesday @ a restaurant on a Sunday once. I could not believe it wasn't Tuesday.

  7. Haha, you are funny. I work out in the mornings and still have not figured out how in the heck to have decent hair without washing it. And I don't like washing it everyday. So you see there lies the problem, let me know if you find out any solutions, I'd love to know, so would my hair. ;)

  8. I like dry shampoo for periods of time when I workout and don't have time to go through the process of fixing it.

  9. I really am trying to be a work out in the morning person. I just have to go back and shower and hope that my hair will behave. Which means getting up a bit earlier.

I'm also doing the Couch to 5K but having missed it for the past two weeks I think I need to semi-start over.

  11. I would love to work out in the mornings but I already wake up at 5:45 to get to work at 7:30 and there's no way I would wake up any earlier! So proud of you that you went though :) It's hard to do. I try to go during my lunch break and I shower after but can't wash my hair or I would never make it back to work. So yeah, my hair looks like a mess. I have to dry the sweat in (eww) with my round brush and then load on hair spray.

I much prefer working out in the evenings, but then I normally talk myself out of it.

  12. I'm definately a get-it-over early and not worry about it kinda girl. I hate having the ick hair afterwards though. A magazine said you should invest in root-lifter to spray on the roots and then pull hair up with a brush while you blow the roots dry.. it also recommended Herbal Essences Tousle Me Softly (I believe that was it) for volume after a workout. I don't really know about either of them working though because I haven't tried it

  13. I hate bad hair days! A bad hair day for me is when my hair is one big frizzball!

  14. Yeah I like to work out in the morning (as much as I *like* working out, which is not. But I hate it at night.).

However, if I work out, I have to shower and completely do my hair.

Ugh, I wish there was a solution to this problem.

And dry shampoo, my hero, isn't cutting it.

  15. You mean you didn't take a picture of the hair? Unbelievable.

  17. My bad hair day did not result from working out unfortunately! Just pure laziness this morning! I've looked into several dry shampoos at Sephora, but just can't ever decide on which type to buy!

  18. hahaha! I feel like my hair never does what I want it to do and I seriously HATE drying it!!!! I like the dry shampoo I got from Sallys. Batiste or something. That taco story is great...so something I would do....
