I've never been too wild with my hair. I basically just go back and forth between light and dark. Never fully coloring my hair, just doing highlights that make my hair look more light or more dark. I hardly ever do just one all over color (with the expection of one time recently). But for the most party I am either brown with some blonde (light), or just really brown(dark).
There are two groups of people in my life:
- those that HATE my hair light
- and those that HATE my hair dark.
I'm a very open person in life, so I think that has something to do with people being open and honest with me about my hair.
I can specifically tell you those in my life that like it dark and those who like it light. They make it known. And honestly it never bothers me. I want people to be honest with me.
So now I come before you, oh my "lovely blogging friends."
I am about to get my hair colored and it is that mid point of the year. It's not really Spring (when I would go light) and it's not really Winter (when I would go dark). Well I know officially what it is, but I don't pay attention to that. I pay attention to what it feels like outside.
So I'm at a cross between whether I should do light, go dark, or stay with what I have now (which to me is a mixture).
See, the most self-centered post EVER!
But like I said, just roll with it....
Or skip it if it is too vain for you. I will understand.
So here we are with light. This is all over blonde highlights (that is my attempt at a technical hair term, meaning I have no idea. It just looks light)

And then we have some dark pics:
This is an old pic of Luke and I from when we were dating, but it shows the dark hair. I have always hated this picture because of the way Luke doesn't have his arm around me.
If we were celebrities this would be in a gossip magazine and it would say:
"How his body language shows that he doesn't really love her"
This is basically my natural, just a bit darker.

So what do you think?
Should I go light?
Should I go a bit darker?
Or should I keep it what it is now? Using my hair techincal terms, I refer to it as a "mix".
And I have to say these all aren't the exact same "light" or "dark." They are from different dark, or light season of my life if that makes sense. It probably doesn't....
I know what I like, what do you like?
Oh, I like the light!! And besides, maybe if you go light then mother nature will get the hint and bring on spring already!! ;)
ReplyDeleteP.S. - That was one of the sweetest kissy, kissy pictures I've ever seen and pretty much cancels out the one of you two where Luke doesn't have his arm around you!!
You're battling with coloring your hair and I'm battling with cutting mine! Judging from the pictures, I like your hair lighter - it fits you better. :)
ReplyDeleteI like the color on the last picture of the light section. It looks so natural and real. It is a little bit lighter than the last picture of the dark section but not too light where you'll have roots in a couple weeks.
ReplyDeleteYou are beautiful either way but I really like your dark hair.
ReplyDeleteI like either way but I am a light hair woman myself as well! You are so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYou look great in whatever hair you sport {really), but I LOVE it light :)
ReplyDeleteWow...that's a really tough decision. I like both but since Spring should be coming very soon I would go with the light.
ReplyDeleteWow, I can't pick! I think you look more mature with dark hair, but super cute with blonde, too. Hmmmm. I'm no help. I say do half and half. ;)
ReplyDeleteThey both really work well for you which is so rare.. you're a lucky lady! But personally, I love the blonde. Good luck with your choice =)
ReplyDeleteWhen i see pictures like these, I am one of those people that usually says "Definitely light!" or "Definitely dark!" But I REALLY think that you look great with both light and dark hair. I think the dark is pretty and you can definitely pull it off. But I personally like the blonde hair best. I think it seems to "fit" with you better. And I think it's a little more fun and carefree. You look a little more natural.
ReplyDeleteIt's hard for me to choose because you're gorgeous with both! haha
ReplyDeleteI mean really. I can't decide. but your pics are awesome! :)
I def. like the light color better. It works well with your coloring.
ReplyDeleteI Like the light color better. But, maybe throw in some red tones? Just for fun? You look like you have the skin tone to really make it work :)
ReplyDeleteEither way, you're gorgeous! What if you kept the color the same color it is in the very last picture {with you in the blue sweater} and then added light highlights? I'm no expert, so I have no idea if that is actually a good idea or not, but in my head it looks pretty. =)
ReplyDeleteGirl, I love blonde hair -- so I say go light! But I think you look great either way!
ReplyDeletePS- Love the body languaga analysis picture! So true that that is what a mag would say. Good thing he DOES love you!
I am currently having the same battle. I like your hair dark!!
ReplyDeleteYou know I'm way more crazy about my hair, so I love this post.
ReplyDeleteI like the light on you. But that might also be because I love me some blonde hair.
I went back and forth with this one because you look great both ways. But in the end, I settled on light since warmer weather is on the way...hopefully!
ReplyDeleteI really like the dark hair. But go with what feels right to you!
ReplyDeleteI love your hair light, all the way!
ReplyDeleteI really like it light! It looks so pretty in the kissing picture!!!
ReplyDeleteGirl, you would look good with a paper bag over your head! But I think I like the light best!
ReplyDeletei think i like you lighter better. the color you have in your wedding pics. what color eyes do you have?
ReplyDeleteI like the light!! But that may only be because I wish I could go light but have never had the guts to go blonde before!
ReplyDeleteI like that last picture..... it's not too dark and not too light.
ReplyDeleteBut, yeah, I definitely can't decide. You look great both ways.
I guess it depends on what you're going for..... with the blonde, you look a little more care-free and fun. With the darker brunette, you look a little more mature.
You really do look great both ways. I like the color of your hair in the white shirt photo of you by yourself. But I LOVE your light hair. It is a beautiful color. It doesn't look like you are trying to hard to be blonde. Kinda reminds me of Jennifer Aniston or Giselle B's hair color. I say go light. Plus you get it done for free, so no worries about the cost of the upkeep. Well, I guess the cost of gas. But that means you can meet up with some of your "lovely blogging friends." :)
ReplyDeleteI think during different times of the year it is essential to mix up the color. I think you look great both ways but I am just a fan of the lighter color (maybe that is why I, myself, always go back to blond shortly after going dark??)
ReplyDeleteGo with the light...always go toward the light!
ReplyDeleteI really love the light!!!! Both are great, but I think the light is more flattering!!
ReplyDeleteI honestly really like your hair both ways, but... I say go light. I like light hair on 99% of people and highlights just scream summer and fun to me. And since I'm ready for both, I think everyone should have lighter hair.
ReplyDeleteThat makes no sense. But I say light.
Light light light light light!
ReplyDeleteIt is coming to summer for you so you should go light.
Also - you had it light for your wedding so I think subconsciously you prefer it light.
I love them both! Since I have very dark brown hair, I've always been a little envious of girls who can get a few highlights and look amazing! So that's why I probably favor the lighter more than the darker. I think the darker makes you look a little older and more mature, which I think is a good thing! I wear glasses now and cut my hair to look a little older. People were always asking me how I old I was when they found out I am married. If I were you, I think I would go light in summers-it looks great with your tan, and dark in winters. But either way, you look beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI think dark!!! But your getting an opinion from a brunette! BTW, I had a friend who said she didn't know if she was going to keep blogging from trying to sound vain. Isn't that what your blog is suppose to be about, you? :) I try not to worry about that, but know where you are coming from!
ReplyDeleteI like them both! You are able to pull off both styles so beautifully! I'm jealous! If I had to choose I would say light just because it is your warm weather color and I would go for anything that reminds me of summer! :)
ReplyDeletecame here by way of Kelly's Korner, but I am usually willing to give my opinion.
ReplyDeleteI like it light! and as some others said it is close to spring so if you go dark then you'll just have to redo it soon. Encourage spring along with light springy hair.
I got a good laugh at your comment about Luke's arm not being around you. I totally have some photos like that too.
ReplyDeleteI say light. Both are pretty, but my honest opinion is light!
I'm a bad person to ask, because obviously I'm a lover of dark hair:)
ReplyDeleteI do love the very last picture though, is that dark?
You are gorgeous no matter what....but I vote for light!!! Keep in mind, though, that I am a year-round highlights girl myself...and I am SOOOO over Winter and ready for Spring!!
ReplyDeleteUsually I can tell right away which color looks best... But you seem to be one of the (few) people that truly looks great either way! In other words, guess I'm no help :)
ReplyDeleteEither light or dark, both look good. But you must keep it long. You have the prettiest hair and should grow it out and KEEP it a long lenght.
ReplyDeleteOh gosh...why do you have to look so darn beautiful with both! :) but I vote light!
ReplyDeleteLIGHT!! I think it makes you look younger..not that you look old..but you know what I mean.
ReplyDeletep.s. Thanks for posting the southwest pot pie..I'm adding it to my collection.
my vote is for lighter hair! come vote on my hair blog.. haha.. i wanna know to go long or cut it off! help please!!
ReplyDeleteLol oh this isn't self centered at all it's an important question. I don't know both suit you pretty well. How about a light brown with some thin blonde highlights allover that would look really cute.
ReplyDeleteI'm no help. I like both! Have you ever thought about doing lighter on top and not all the way through?
ReplyDeleteBoth look great on you!
"How his body language shows that he doesn't really love her"
ReplyDeleteI giggled at this with reference to the gossip mags. SO TRUE!
I'm blonde, but put low lights in during the fall/winter. Then high lights for spring and summer. Then, I don't have to go completely one way, but my hair goes through "seasons." I like it that way.
You pull off both looks really well, but I'd go for the light just because spring is coming. You're beautiful with both, though! :)
ReplyDeleteI think you can totally pull off either look but I think I like the dark ! but it might be because I've been thinking about going dark too!
ReplyDeletei'm a hair dresser so i completely understand your battle! it's an odd time of the year but i would go with the light! it looks great on you!
ReplyDeleteI like the light!!! Don't be worried about throwing in some darkness too :)
ReplyDeleteYou look great either way! I vote dark. :)
ReplyDeleteOhhhh I LOVE the dark... I think it makes your skin look so creamy and flawless :)
ReplyDeleteI love this post... and you're stinkin' cute!
I am lovin' the light hair! You're adorable both ways...but I love it light!
ReplyDeletePs...I love reading your blog! :)
First off, hello lovely bloggy friend.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I like the blonde. But I always pick blonde.
In reality, both look amazing on you. I vote... blonde.
Some habits die hard.
Hi, this is the first time I have visited your blog :) I like the dark hair better, although the blonde is pretty on you too.
ReplyDeleteI think light suit you more..
ReplyDeleteAnyway,I love blonde.
Megan,
ReplyDeleteI vote, um, ummm, well, I like them both and think the dark with blonde highlights would be so pretty. But that is what I like to do (when I color my hair so I'm not overtaken with gray like I currently am, another comment for another day =) But either way, you are a doll!!
Have a Blessed week,
Dawn
You look beautiful no matter what, but since we are coming into Spring and warmer weather, I say go light!
ReplyDeleteI'm a brunette with highlights and coming from a brunette, believe me when I say, if I could pull off blonde hair half of the year, I totally would! You should DEF go with with the lighter! Maybe with the lighter locs, it will help improve your "February mood"! What's wrong with having spring come a little early? :)
ReplyDeleteOh, I so love your hair both ways, but for right now, I say go light!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE it light!
ReplyDeleteLight, it looks good with your complexion!
ReplyDelete...and blondes supposedly have more fun!
Go light with the SUN.
ReplyDeleteAnd of course, I am of the I like it light group. I don't hate the dark. Just like the light.
TEAM LIGHT!!
ReplyDeleteWell, gee, last week (or close to it), I said I was jealous of your hair how it is now...and I kind of am still...except I LOVE how your hair looks on your wedding day (not just the style...I mean the color). That's what I want...the dark blonde with the all over subtle blonde highlights. I think it's so pretty!
ReplyDeleteHOWEVER - your hair seriously does look great how it is now, and I am totally that girl who goes dark then light then dark...on a whim...so, you probably shouldn't listen to me. :)
Other than this...how do you keep your hair looking so healthy? I realize you probably don't color it nearly as much as I do mine, but do you straighten/blowdry or anything? Mine needs some TLC...yours looks nice and healthy!
(I'm a hair nerd, too, obviously. Sorry for ranting...LOL)
