The first Weekly Weekend Update of 2010. I feel so official.
Friday was New Years Day and it felt like Saturday all day. I had to keep telling myself that I wasn't going to church in the morning.
My grandparents have a cabin about 20 minutes from Luke and I's apartment and on Friday my sister and mom were visiting there for the day so I had my sister cut and color my hair while she was there.
I am very blessed with the fact that my parents paid the big bucks for my sister to get her cosmetology license, that means I get free hair cut and colors - well not completely free I do tip her for all of her hard work.
However free means your hair stylist puts minimal effort into it. Meaning I have to wash my own hair, which I hate.
So we developed our very own hair -sink right in my grandparents cabin. I'm sure they were thrilled.

I also practiced using my new camera by getting some cute shots of my nephew:
Saturday Luke and I went shopping and made a funfetti cake. The funfetti cake was pretty much the highlight of our day. I could eat funfetti cake everyday all day.

Sunday after church Luke played a riveting video game and I caught up on all my blogs. My reader is still pretty full from my blogging hiatus I took during the holidays.
I also started working on my Christmas Card book.
All of our picture Christmas card's displayed.
The book that I put them in.
Some people think its silly that I save cards, but to me they are like pictures. I know people spend time and effort picking them out (and also $) and I hate to just throw them away. I think its so fun to go back and look through the book. Also, I don't think its bad if you throw away your cards, this is just what I choose to do.
It was a great first weekend of 2010.
Tomorrow I go back to work. Going back to work is always hard after a long break but I am remembering that I have a great job, with great people and I enjoy it very much.
Hope you had a great weekend!
Ohhh I like the idea of saving the cards in a book. I should do that. Do you save the non-picture ones too?
ReplyDeleteI looooove your book! I save mine in a book too, but I think I loke yours more...I might be changing mine this year!
ReplyDeleteGreat book for your cards! I keep cards from year to year and put them all out in a big basket, adding the new ones in as they arrive (it looks like we receive hundreds of cards each year!). It is so fun to look back on the older cards and photos.
ReplyDeleteThe pic of you chillin on the kitchen counter getting your hair washed is absolutely HILARIOUS!!! What I wouldn't give for someone who would color and cut my hair for less than $90 a pop... that would be amazing!
ReplyDeleteI love that you save all those special cards... makes me wish I had the energy to do that... but I think I just can't. I'm drowning in paper.... receipts and such. Oy.
What a great idea! Thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteI love getting my hair washed too... I like the deal you guys worked out..lol- you guys are too fun!
I love the pic of you on the counter, lol.
ReplyDeleteThe Christmas Card book is such a great idea. I like to save cards.... birthday cards, Thank You cards, Christmas cards. A book might be something I should look into. Right now, they are all in a Cinderella Coach thingy that I got for my birthday a few years ago and didn't know what to do with.... so, I turned it into a card holder, lol.
Great pic of Maxton, he is so cute and you are such a great Auntie!
ReplyDeleteI love the book you made for your holiday cards! I am definitely going to have to do that! We keep ours too but the old ones are just in a file right now, I'm going to have to change that=)
and I would lay on a counter and wash my hair in a sink for a free color too ;-)
I love the hair washing technique!
ReplyDeleteYou crack me up :)
And I think that book for saving your christmas cards is SUCH a good idea. All that work people go to sending them, it is nice to keep as a memory :)
I just found your blog but I already love it! I never thought of saving Christmas cards like that. Such a great idea!
ReplyDeletewhat a cute idea!!!! i have a friend who frames the pictures that come with the cards! i thought that was a good idea too since you dont usually have too many pictures of friends and family! happy 2010!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! First off, I am SO jealous of your (almost) free haircuts - that is so awesome. Your nephew is too cute too!!
ReplyDeleteAnd I am LOVING your card book - what a great idea!! And yes, people put so much into their Christmas cards and everyone just throws them away at the end of the year. This was such a great idea! :) I may have to steal it next year!! xoxo
Love your picture card book! Such a great idea!
ReplyDeleteI love funfetti cake too! And I scrapbooked my cards for the first time this year. I actually started with last year's card since I kept them. I'm going to love having these in a book.
ReplyDeletethose pics of you washing your hair remind me of when my mom used to wash my hair as a little girl...I wish I had a sister who could color & cut my hair for free! By the way, that card book is adorable! What a great idea!
ReplyDeleteYour Christmas card book is adorable, I love to scrapbook but just haven't had the time since having kids!
ReplyDeleteOh, Funfetti is always fabulous!
I saw the idea of saving Christmas cards on Kelly's blog...I think it's a great idea! I'm going to try and do that at some point. :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't had funfetti in YEARS! YUM!
I always save cards, but it wasn't until this year that I thought of putting them in an album to look back through. Thanks for showing how great it will look once I get it all done!
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of saving Christmas cards...I've never even thought of doing that! : )
ReplyDeleteI really wish I had done a book like that over the years. It makes me sad to think that I have thrown them out in the past!
ReplyDeleteI love funfetti cake too =)
Have a great Monday back to work!
I love your card book. Awesome idea!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea!! It looks great!
ReplyDeleteThat card book is so cute. Maybe one day I will do cool crafty things like that again. (-:
ReplyDeleteKathryn
I love the idea of keeping a book of the Christmas cards. So I will send you all of mine, plus a photo album, and you can just whip one up, right?!
ReplyDeletei love the Christmas card idea. i love getting them, but usually throw them away. i wish i saved them!
ReplyDeletelove the makeshift hair washing sink! i'd do it for free cut and color, too!
Great idea for the Christmas cards!! Too bad I already disposed of all mine. LOL.
ReplyDeleteOh well, maybe next year... :)
I have been wanting to do a book of cards, too...I love the way you did yours! And as I was scrolling through your pictures, I was like, "Hey, I got that card"...and then noticed the others on that same page too - of the Webb's! We lived next door to them in Tahlequah when I was in grade school and they are great friends of our family still...small world!!
ReplyDeleteYou have inspired me to save my cards!! I didn't throw them away this year, love what you do with yours!! And I love the pics of your head in the sink getting all beautified!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a super cute idea!!! I am just a tosser though. I am so bad, but I just don't keep sentimental stuff, haha!
ReplyDeleteI also save our picture cards! It is fun to look at them from year to year.
ReplyDeleteha..ha..I love your hair sink! It's so nice to have someone in your life to do your hair because it can get so expensive! Also love your card album, I never know what to do with them after the holidays!
ReplyDeleteSuch a What a great idea to put those cards in books. I think I might do it with mine!!
