I’m usually not the type of person to write out my goals or resolutions and post them on the blog at the beginning of the year.
It just seems like a more formal way of actually having to ‘do’ those things that I typed out.
Does anybody remember my blog post about reading the bible in a year?
Probably not because I never mentioned it again. I like to avoid all failures in my life.
Which is why I never talk about my piano recital in the 7th grade.
Disaster, pure disaster.
Anyways, I made it all the way to March in the One Year Bible.
Then spring break happened.
Well I just went skiing, that sentence made it sound like I was on some drunken beach unable to read my one year bible due to wild nights. That’s not the case, but my ski trip messed up my routine, and when my routine gets messed up I have trouble going back to normal.
However I do get all sentimental at the beginning of the year about a fresh start, a new beginning, blah blah blah, and I start to mentally make notes in my head of things I would like to do.
Once again, if they are just in my mind then it’s not such a big fat FAIL when I don’t do them.
But I decided to put my big-girl-pants on and type some out.
Here are a couple of my resolutions/goals/what have you:
1. Start having a more consistent “devotional time” with God.
I have never been good at this, and it is something I desire to do, but yet don’t. I always try and find somebody to blame (the church, my husband, my dog I had when I was 8) but alas I only have myself to blame.
2. Become more health conscious.
This does not, I repeat DOES NOT mean I’m quitting diet coke. That would just be cruel. However I would like to cut back on it and drink some more water, you know that clear stuff that comes out of a faucet. I seem to only think it’s useful for showering, and I don’t drink enough in there to last me for the day.
3. Become a more supportive wife.
Somebody should have told me before I got married that I wasn’t just marrying my spouse but I was marrying his dreams also. Wait, they did. Well somebody should have told me that my husband loves all things music and his dreams revolve around music. Wait, he did. This year I want to work towards becoming a better Proverbs 31:30 woman and supporting my husband in his dreams. That means going to his music shows EVEN IF it is the same night as American Idol (and my precious Ryan). Marriage is a tricky thing, especially when you throw a TV in the mix. That can cause all sort of problems.
4. Continue with my Couch to 5K and run a 5K.
Notice how I didn’t say run a half marathon? I’m just not brave enough to type that out yet. But it is something I would like to start working towards
5. Give it to God
This could apply to many things and will just be my motto for 2010
This year was the first year I wrote down some goals too... I'm horrible with following through, so I really should have just made that my one and only goal ;)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the running... I did a 10K and a half last year and am signed up for another few races already for 2010. I'm not fantastic at it, nor am I fast, but I do feel better when I get out there!
I totally feel the be more a more supportive wife. I am going to try and work on that myself this year!
ReplyDeleteI just love you, Megan! These are great!! We can encourage each other on the running...I decided today I am going to run a 10K in May! And I have been working on the water, too. :( Not fun, but good for you!
ReplyDeleteYou have such great resolutions! I will keep you in my prayers that God will help you along the way.
ReplyDeleteGreat resolutions! I also planned some for 2010...lets see if they stick!!!
ReplyDeleteI definitely want to spend more time with God this year. And I've got running goals too! Hopefully we all accomplish our goals in 2010!
ReplyDeleteI ran my first 5k last October and if I can run one, so can you! Or just sign up for it, and unless you want to waste the money, you will run it :)
ReplyDeleteI love diet coke too! I don't think I could ever fully give it up. It's sick, but true.
Megan you make me smile! I always love your posts...
ReplyDelete2010 is going to be great... and I am loving your realism about the whole thing.
I want to have a more consistent devotional time too...
ReplyDeleteWhat devotional do you have? I am searching for one..
I'm right there with you on almost each of these. Seriously...each of these are things I should work on!
ReplyDeleteI hope 2010 is a great year for you. And who knows, maybe it will be the year for your half marathon :)
Those are all very obtainable goals, good luck! I'm hoping to run a 5k as well.
ReplyDeleteYou know...the OKC half marathon is the end of April. You would have 16 weeks to get in shape :). I'll be there running! Just sayin'...
ReplyDeleteThese are all awesome goals. You are such a great writer!
I'm about to write all mine down too...and I'm being hard on myself this year...but I agree about the Diet Coke, can't do it!
ReplyDeleteGreat resolutions! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely trying for #5 as well...I started this at the end of 2009 and life is so much more peaceful when we give it all to God! Good luck with your goals!
ReplyDeleteRight, writing them down makes them so real.
ReplyDeleteYou can achieve them all, I know it.
Another resolution should be for the TwilightPosse to meet up for Eclipse. Ahhhh so soon!
Wishing you luck on all of your resolutions...you can do it! :)
ReplyDeleteI so need to get in shape. Oh, and I add fresh fruit to my water...helps me to be able to drink more.
I would have number 1, 2, 3 and 5 on my list too. Praying that you will do it all WITH and IN His strength!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutel wonderful goals and hope for the new year Megan that I have no doubt you can achieve!!! :)
ReplyDeletelove all the new year's resolutions: practical, encouraging and totally doable. thanks for such a cute blog! :)
ReplyDelete#5 is probably my favorite, I love the wording.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your couch to 5K! You can do it!
great resolutions! you can do it!
ReplyDeleteWe should find a half marathon to run together this year! That would be so fun! I'm SO SERIOUS! Then the four of us could go stay wherever it was for the weekend and we could run and then eat really good after we finished. I have done one half and lived to tell about it!
ReplyDeletegreat list! I'm with you on... all of them! I need (and have done well so far this year=)) to be more supportive about Hubby going to workout, we just love hanging out and sometimes I don't want to share him with the gym, but it's important to both of us (and we just joined and really need to get goin' on it) to be (um get) in shape and feel good. We also want to start running again, sounds like you're doing great! Can't wait to hear about all of the progress! =) You're going to do great!
ReplyDeleteThese are GREAT goals Megan. Now print those babies out and post on your bathroom mirror and your fridge and you'll be reminded of them often.
ReplyDeleteHave a Super Blessed day,
Dawn
PS Love your outtakes video, up yonder in above post =) so cute!!!!!
I'm leery of saying that I will run a half marathon, but I want to do it! I think if I entered I would be more motivated. And someone to do it with, that would REALLY help!
