Groovin' Music

Tonight I begun the daunting task of putting together a playlist of tunes to listen to while I workout.

Well, I say workout but I mean jog.

Well, I say jog but I mean 'walk briskly'.

Actually I am attempting to do the 'Couch to 5k' program, but I am reluctant to say that on the blog because if I quit it in 3 weeks I won't just know I'm a quitter, but those of you that read my ramblings will also know I'm a quitter.

But hopefully I won't quit.

I bought the couch to 5k application for the iphone and I feel good about it this time. I feel like I will really stick with it.

And the fact that the hubs acted like I would use it one time and forget about it is an even bigger incentive to complete the challenge.

But he has good reason for his assumptions. Anybody remember The Shred?

Yeah, me neither.

So I have been putting together a workout playlist and I just can't seem to narrow it down. There are too many good get-your-butt-moving songs.

But I've narrowed it down a bit.

I of course started with with Britney because she will never fail me when it comes to get-my-butt-moving music.

I have been with her since the beginning. I was there when she was innocent, I defended her when everybody said she got implants, I saw her go from skanky to mommy all the way to crazy crazy train and now back to pop princess. I never abandoned her and she has never abandoned me when I needed good jogging-walking-briskly tunes.

I then moved into a little Carrie Underwood and Taylor Swift followed by Coldplay. Needless to say I love all genres of music.

And please lets not forget Backstreet Boys. I mean seriously who can listen to "Everybody" and not want to get up and do a choreographed dance? Not me.

I then concluded the playlist with some tunes by my very own hubby. Don't worry none of the tunes are written for me or about me. That's not his style.

But even though they aren't about me, they are still good songs and they will remind me that somebody out there loves me when I feel like I am dying on the treadmill.

So now I have two playlists each containing 30 minutes of music. I feel good and ready to combat the treadmill.

And yes, I know that running outside is better for your body and I would love to run outside, however, my only problem is that my ears tend to feel like they are going to fall off if I go outside in anything less than 72 degrees.

I'm not really cut out for this working-out, physical exercise, endurance thing.

But the Couch to 5k is still calling my name.

So now that I've probably disgusted a good majority of you by admitting my love for all things Brit Brit and Boy Bands, tell me, what is on your get-your-butt-moving music?

  1. The more Backstreet Boys, the better!

I watch TV while I'm at the gym, so I can't tell you what I do. I'd definitely go with some 90's pop...the really cheesy bad stuff. I love it!

  2. Britney will so appreciate the fact you stuck with her thru thick and thin!!!!! :)

  3. I don't actually like britney, but I like working out to her music. Gets me MOOOOVING! :)

  4. The Ting Tings (one of their songs was used in an iPod commercial) and The Pussycat Dolls.

  5. i'll be checking back on these comments because i'm making my list, too!

  6. Hey the Chinese thing is

    anyway... =)

I do love me some Mac -- Toby Mac that is. The boy gets me moving!! Also Michael Tait, Yep I like me some DC Talk gone all rogue err, ummm, solo =) Also Jeremy Camp has some great kickin' it music, as well as Kutless and Need to Breathe. Yep good stuff!!!

So tell me, is the Couch to 5K done inside? If not you may need to invest in some ear muffs =)

    Have a Super Blessed day,

  7. I have a million workout songs. If I do not have good music then my running is sucks.

  8. I'm going to do the Couch to 5K next Spring, and I'm going to sign up for one to stay motivated. Hoping it'll help me lose the baby weight!

  9. I could not agree with you more about the Backstreet Boys. Love them and they can definitely get you going. I'm so proud of you =)

  10. My workout ipod playlist has Lady Gaga, Britney, and Black eyed Peas!

  11. This is a totally random song, but I love The Who-baba o'riley. I don't know why but it makes me want to run. But you can't go wrong with some Brit Brit! I just finished to couch to 5k plan, it was fun, good luck

  12. You need this podcast!!! It has fun workout songs and she's cut them so they start/stop when you are supposed to run/walk on couch25k

  13. I did the Couch to 5K program and it really worked!! It sounded like a piece of cake, and it wasn't quite that easy...but it really did work. I ran a 5K about a week after finishing and made it all the way!!!

  14. I don't have any suggestions for music, but I am also trying to stick with a workout regimen and running is what I have decided upon. I have gone for a run 4 straight days, which is good for me because I have a tendency to be like you and pick it up then quit very shortly after because I hate to exercise!

  15. Totally hear you on the butt moving. Last night I started up my 4 mile walk again!

I am not very motivated when it comes to working out either! But lets face it I'm not 21 anymore and I can't just eat what I want and go. =(

  16. Oh good luck!!! I downloaded a workout mix of various dance songs back in the summer...needless to say it didn't stick. Maybe I need to go back to some good ole stuff like Brit & Backstreet Boys!

  17. That's why I go to Jazzercise - they play some really good get that butt movin' music!

I really like the c25K program!!! If you check out their site, they give free downloads every week with running/walking songs ... for free!!!

  18. I think it's great you are doing the couch to 5k, I started it last year and quit because I just hate running so I did workout videos instead. I know you will have more success than me though!=)

  19. This is why we would be great friends:
"I mean seriously who can listen to "Everybody" and not want to get up and do a choreographed dance? Not me."

    Me either sister.

    *Everybody, YEEAAAHH, rock your body...*

  22. I did The 30 Day Shred for a while and got out of the habit after our move. I'd try the couch to 5k thing but I really don't like running. Maybe I would if I had some good tunes to cheer me on... no I still don't think I'd like it.

  23. We have the same taste in music, so no need to be embarassed. ;) I hope you've got Larger Than Life on that playlist to go along with Everybody! It seems like a lot of people are doing the Couch to 5k plan now. I am thinking about doing it as well...maybe. haha. Good luck!

  24. I loved boy bands. NSYNC was my BB of choice. Also loved "Everybody".... especially the music video.

I started to list some of my favorites and the list got really long, lol. So, I decided to make my own post... feel free to check out my stupid long list, lol.

  27. yay, I did the C25K before my wedding, and it really does gradually get you up to running a 5K easily. The only challenge is getting your butt out the door and running 3 days a week!
