Actually I discovered a lot of amazing things during college, and not one of those amazing things had anything to do with school work.
One amazing thing I discovered was the absolute perfect curl cream:

And please notice that I said was. For some reason the people at Garnier thought it would be a good idea to STOP making the best curl cream ever.
Can we please have a moment of silence for the best curl cream ever?
.......................................................................................
Thank You.
I have mentioned before that I prefer my hair straight, but days that I do wear it wavy I always rely on my Garnier curl cream and it has never failed me.
Until the day they suddenly stopped making it for absolutely no reason.
Bitter, party of one.
So now I am on a quest.
A quest for the perfect wave.
And to obtain the perfect wave I need the most-perfect wave producing product. Well the second most-perfect wave producing product since they just quit making the number one product.
Seriously, not bitter.
So friends, those of you that were born with hair not so straight, but also not so curly, hair with just a bit of wave in it.
What do you use to get the *perfect* wave?
Please help.
My hair will forever be grateful.

Oh I was all excited to go buy it but they don't make it! I'm sorry, I have no magic curl cream. I generally don't put anything in my hair when it dries naturally (curly) because it makes it sticky and/or stiff.

ReplyDeleteOkay.... here's an option for you to at least consider until you find something new that you love:

Sorry, not much help here -- I've got some natural wave but I'm still looking for that perfect product myself -- if you find it, let me know :)
ReplyDeleteWish I could help but my hair is as straight as can be and the only way I can it wavy or curly is by a good old fashion curling iron.
ReplyDeleteNow this is a prime example of people going and messing up a good thing, geez!!!!!! For the love of all things wavy, why did they have to go and do that to you????
ReplyDeleteI will sit in silence for a few minutes in your honor! :)
well i have natural wave in my hair, but have you even visited love meagan's blog? she has the perfect wave down!
ReplyDeleteAnother wavy hair girl to the rescue! I know how you feel...I hate it when they do that! My favorite product for when I want to leave my hair natural is Sunsilk Waves of Envy- Sea Mist. It keeps the frizz away and smells sooo good! Plus, it's cheap.

I don't like it when products change either!
ReplyDeleteI have really curly hair and have had success with the curl line from herbal essence! My friend likes the one from Aussie.
I have been using Garnier's Waves of Wonder, and it's alright. It's a spray in. However, It does make my hair a little stiff, but it's not terrible like some other products I have used.
ReplyDeleteI did use Sunsilk's curl cream, but I haven't had the best luck finding that lately either. It worked pretty well- the green bottle is what I used, but they did have a blue bottle for waves.
Just came across your blog and wanted to say hi from one Oklahoma girl to another! :) And I hate when they discontinue a prodcut...that ALWAYS happens after I find the perfect thing! I have naturally curly hair that's gotten a little funky the older I've gotten, so kind of more in between. Anyway, Paul Mitchell's Relaxing Balm gives me the perfect waves...just put it in and let your hair air dry. Good luck! :)
ReplyDeleteLoreal Springing Curls is the best!!!
ReplyDeleteI used to use that too! I now use their wave spray that I like okay. If you want to spend a little more there is an Alterna cream/ pomade in a red bottle that works well too. They sell it a salons and at Ulta.
ReplyDeletehmmmm....may have to try this. I have really curly hair and I HATE mousse because I don't like stiff curls so this may work! new product! yeah!
ReplyDeleteVERY SEXY CURLING CREAM!!! I LOVE IT !!1
ReplyDeleteMy hair will not do wavy, so I can't help you out. But I can be angry at Garnier with you! :)
ReplyDeleteI like curls rock by TIGI. May give you more curls than waves though?
ReplyDeleteI have no suggestions but I do hope you find something soon! That is tragic.:)
ReplyDeleteI really need something that works well for my curls. I'm going to read all the suggestions! Because me? I have really curly hair but I just use LA Looks gel (the green one)
ReplyDeleteI had my perfect curling spray (John Frieda Beach Waves) and they stopped making it too! Now it's like $150 a bottle on Ebay. So far, the best combination I've found is Sally Hershberger wavy shampoo (seriously, it makes a difference) and Tresemme touchable curls shaping milk - no crunchiness or stickiness in sight! Plus, it's wicked cheap!
ReplyDeleteGood luck!
HOW TERRIBLE!!! I was quickly thinking I needed to run and look for this! I would maybe check places like Big Lots...they tend to have things that are discontinued and until they sell them all!
ReplyDeleteOh, I so hate it when a product is discontinued or a store stops carrying it. Wal-mart did that with a cleaner I used. I googled it and found it at Lowe's. Could your curl cream be at Lowe's?
ReplyDeleteI was so excited to try this..until you said it doesn't work anymore! Boo!! I have a wave and sometimes it's easier to just scrunch and go. I use Pantene mousse and a diffuser. Then add some hairspray at the end to set it. I would love to find another way than diffusing!
ReplyDeleteGood luck! I'm def going to read over these comments now :)
I completely agree!! That stuff was fantastic, I have no clue why they stopped making it.
ReplyDeleteI have naturally really curly hair, but there's so much of it that I have to put something in it to tame it. I prefer gels to mousses, like the Pantene or Aussie kinds. Maybe you could check that out?! :)
Garnier has a new product that is basically the same thing. It just comes in a tube now instead of a tub. I do believe it is even called Soft Curls. Or Tresseme has a curl reactivating spray that works best straight out of the shower for soft curls. I like it better for first day curls instead of as a reactivator.
ReplyDeleteHope that helps!!
OH NO! I hate when your favorite things go off the market!
ReplyDeleteI have similar hair and enjoy using Sunsilk waves of envy gel and cream twist. See it here: http://www.gethairapy.com/products.php
Bitter, party of two!
ReplyDeleteI was so mad they stopped making that stuff! I had finally found something that worked for my somedays-wavy, somedays-curly hair! Now I use Pantene curl gel...not as good, but it works better than other stuff I've tried!
Try drugstore.com....I found my straightening stuff on there that hasn't been in stores for over a year!
ReplyDeleteYeah I think that they just revamped it a little---they have it in a tube now and its Soft curls...next time u come see me I can give u my container of the cream u like---I have some that I don't use....or maybe thats gross--- O WELL! :)
ReplyDeleteGarnier does make a similar product (almost the exact same packaging) that I use called "Surf Hair" which is a curl/wave cream. I just started using it and I love it.
ReplyDeleteHi! I check out your blog occasionally, and this problem today is one that I totally struggle with!! I use Aussie strong hold, but I'm not too in love with the product because if you use a bit too much your hair is crunchy, but if you use too little, it doesn't hold, and it's very hard to find the perfect balance! Do you ever find that one side of your hair waves better than the other? I think it depends on which side I sleep on. Plus, I always sense that my bottom layers don't wave as well as the top layers because the top layers wave them down. Why is my hair sooo difficult!
ReplyDeletethis always seems to happen to my mom and me. we find a hair product we love ... and the poof, it no longer exists. someone may have suggested this already, but i typed in "garnier soft curl cream" and many a result popped up for this styling product you love so much. i've always been a fan of their curl spray gel.
ReplyDeletegood luck my dear!
Try the Sunsilk waves of envy. I LOVE it! It gives my hair the beachy wave look that I adore and it smells great and is cheap! Plus it doesn't make your hair stiff at all. (I hate stiff waves..)
ReplyDeleteI have no suggestions, and I rarely wear my hair curly, but this always seems to happen to me, as well. I find a great product that I love, and the company discontinues it.
ReplyDeletei can't find anything i like either!! some people i know use guts? it's more of a mousse. I haven't tried it.. i think it might be a little expensive. you will HAVE HAVE HAVE to let me know if you find a replacement though!
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know of a product to give wave to SUPER STRAIGHT HAIR? That is totally rude of them to stop selling the perfect product!
ReplyDeleteLove this post!! I am reading through the comments to see what girls use! I love going wavy on some days too!
ReplyDeleteI am a little late but have been meaning to come by and tell you that I too have wavy hair and have been on a life long mission to find great product (that isn't too expensive). I detest Aussie's products because they make my hair so sticky and crunchy...my son loves to play with it though!
ReplyDeleteSo, a few weeks ago I bought this stuff at Publix and LOVE LOVE LOVE it. It's called ALAGIO Crazy Curl Curl Enhancer Balm. It makes my hair curl up better than anything AND it makes them so soft. I love soft waves. :) Oh, and it's only about $8 a tube. I also add a bit of curling mousse afterwards but that is it.
http://www.curlmart.com/Alagio-Crazy-Curl-Curl-Enhancer-Balm-p-780.html
i need to print these comments and go to the store! i wear my hair curly/wavy at least once a week and always have to give it a little "help" with the curling iron. i need a good product.
ReplyDeletetreseme, touchable curls is amazing, and only around 5 dollars
