To which I replied:
Oh. We are still doing that budget thing?
He was not amused. Not. At. All.
I understand that having a budget is an important thing.
And I understand that we are saving money for a house.
But c'mon, we are about to go on vacation and I need new vacation clothes!
I'm not the only one who gets new vacation clothes, right?
Why do boys not understand the need for new vacation clothes?
And it is July, which means it is almost August, which means it is almost time to go back to school shopping.
Oh wait, I'm an adult. I don't get to go back to school shopping anymore.
Growing up is hard, especially when it involves less shopping!

oh girl!! I agree with you 100%!
ReplyDeleteAmen!
ReplyDeletei AM so happy im not grown up yet..i shop way too much! Ahh the perks of still being a college kid! ;) lol
ReplyDeleteI'm completely with you!!
ReplyDeleteWe are planning a trip to Mexico for our anniversary in Oct, so I am definitely in the "I need vacation clothes" mode!
ReplyDeleteAmen sista!!
ReplyDeleteOh, girl, I totally agree! Growing up stinks!!! haha!!
ReplyDeleteback to school shopping is my favorite time of year!!
ReplyDeletei guess you could just use the excuse that once you have kids, you'll be buying all their new clothes/school supplies... so right now, you're just preparing your budget for that time. sounds reasonable to me. :)
I hear ya! We're on a budget too, and I know this fall when all of the cords and cable knits come out...I'll be sooooo sad!!! Thank goodness for Target giftcards!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is why we don't do joint checking in our home!! We have a joint savings and a joint checking for bills and what not, but we have our own checking for our own spending. I couldn't handle it! Every girl needs some cute clothes for a trip to Disney!
ReplyDeleteYou totally need some new vacation clothes, what is he thinking?? lol. Grown up budgets are the worst!!
ReplyDeleteJust stumbled across your blog...I totally know how you feel! My husband and I have a strict budget too, and it is so hard to stick to!
ReplyDeletehaha I am the same way about our budget. Unfortunately, so is my hubby . . . it's a bad combination. We are constantly "making budgets' and never actually following them!
ReplyDeleteThis is when I reply to hubby..."I like to invest a little more money in clothing that is classic and timeless so that when we do have kids, I won't have to buy any." He does not find that amusing, because we don't want kids, but hey, I work in a crisis pregnancy center...accidents happen...then I tell him I'm just preparing for the unexpecting. Gotta give me some credit, right?
ReplyDeleteomg....you sound just like me!!! your awesome!!! we think so much alike!!! i'm with ya with the vacation clothes!! and back to school clothes!! every summer you need new clothes b/c the style changes and same thing with the winter!!! ...lol! i love the way you think!
ReplyDeleteBoys never understand! I am laughing out loud right now at your "oh, are we still doing that" comment. You are so funny!
ReplyDeleteP and I always argue about my shopping addiction. But he totally just doesn't get it. He likes to golf and drive a nice car while I prefer to shop, shop, shop! I don't think boys will ever understand.
ReplyDeleteAlthough yesterday he was like how many more books are you going to buy. I think you buy more books now they shop.
Yes, I always have a to get a few new things for vacation too! And, I love back to school shopping even if I did graduate high school 9 years ago!!
ReplyDeleteI agree 100%. LC always gripes at me about my shopping bc we're trying to get a house as well. But, like I told him, I'll cut back when said house is bought! Ha=) And yes, you don't want you need new vacation clothes. It's a must!!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh I hear ya! I feel the exact same way!!
ReplyDeleteAgreed!
ReplyDeleteNew vacation clothes are a necessity.
Also, I am thinking that deep down the reason I really want to be a teacher is to justify my back to school shopping and school supply shopping obsession!
I'm right there with you!
ReplyDeleteI hear you too...I'm terrible with wanting to buy new clothes or whatever! Not good for our budget! :)
ReplyDeleteI feel your pain. My husbands never understands the need for new vacation clothes.
ReplyDeletei couldn't agree with you more. i haven't shopped in months and i'm SO missing it.
ReplyDeleteI hate the word budget. For some reason, guys have no problem with it. It's just hard for me to commit to only spending a certain amount of $ each month...there are so many 'what ifs' that could come up. And that usually do. :)
ReplyDeleteNew vacation clothes are a must.
I miss the days when I was in college and my summer pay checks went to clothes, food and Sonic. Being a grown-up is tough.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree! Vacations call for new clothes! Love your blog by the way. It has become a staple in my blog line up. Thanks for your funny and encouragin posts.
ReplyDeleteha- "We are still doing that budget thing?" You are funny. Growing up is hard to do!
ReplyDeleteHaha! Oh man, this is definitely a topic that comes up quite a bit in our household. I am ALL on your side! Sigh...it's so hard feeling constriced. :o)
ReplyDeleteSo, so true. Since the hubs is about to make a major career change - thus taking a major pay cut for the next 6-8 months - there were no vacation clothes for me this year.
ReplyDeleteIt was a sad state, but I had to remind myself that the sacrifice will be worth it in the end.
Back to school shopping is the best! Wait, don't you work at college? Well, then you are technically at school! Oh, and new clothes are most certainly needed for vacation:)
ReplyDeletei miss back to school shopping soooo much. Or having my mom buy me clothes in general actually, haha. it stinks being an adult sometimes:)
ReplyDeleteoh girl.. I could not agree with you more!
ReplyDeletevacation clothes are a must. i struggle with that budget thing, too. i have a feeling i'm going to be in trouble at the end of the month.
ReplyDeleteI think the whole vacaction clothes and schools clothes things is ingrained in us my our Mothers since childhood- That's my excuse anyways!
ReplyDeleteYou sound just like me. I think we're about to start the whole budget thing again. Yuck!
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I have that conversation ALL the time
ReplyDeleteI feel you, but a splurge is needed once in a while, right?
ReplyDeleteI agree!! Growing up is too hard!
ReplyDeleteI agree with ya!
ReplyDeleteMy husband and dad both ask when I am going to grow up. And the budget thing, I am HORRIBLE!!
ReplyDeleteI feel ya. My personal clothing money shrunk after having a baby.
ReplyDeleteApparently, toddlers need clothes and shoes too and can't just run around in a diaper. :)
Budgets are hard. Love your wedding pics on the banner at the top! Thanks for visiting me.
ReplyDeleteThat is so true !!!! I just got done informing my husband that I need fall work clothes and that I need to go to the end of summer sales for next year.
ReplyDeleteGrowing up.. no thank you..
I miss back to school clothes shopping too! Being on a budget can be hard- I remember when I first got married- I didn't know anything about budgets. Tommy taught me everything I know. Now I actually like being on a budget- crazy I know- I think one day you will too! In 10 years most of your friends will be in thousands of dollars of debt with all kinds of stress and you and Luke will probably have no debt at all! Now that is exciting!
