I immediately knew this was a problem.
I looked at the clock, and yup, sure enough I was supposed to be at work at that exact time.
Even though I was running behind, I still took the time to get ready and decided I would just be going in a bit late.
I was once told that I am a 'one speed' kind of person. Whether I am on time or running late I only use one speed. This has cursed me. Now when I am running late, I think: "Well it doesn't matter because I only have one speed."
I was told this my senior year of high school.
I don't hold on to things forever.
This week is graduation week at the university I work at and for the past 3 days my office has hosted a come and go reception for graduates.
ALL DAY for 3 days straight.
I am exhausted of 'small talk'.
Over the past 3 days I have asked these three questions endlessly:
1. Are you done with finals?
2. What did you major in?
3. What are you plans now that you are graduating?
Those are the three questions I asked, when all I really wanted to do was scream at them:
BE PREPARED YOU ARE GOING TO HIT YOUR QUARTER LIFE CRISIS PRETTY SOON.
But I didn't, because that might have been considered crazy.
However, my husband did tell me the term 'Quarter Life Crisis' is just a nice word for crazy.
I will embrace it.
After reading several comments on my last post, I was relieved to see that others can relate to the QLC. I will discuss this phenomenon in a later post.
I just don't have the energy right now.
In fact, I basically don't know how to have a conversation if we aren't discussing what you majored in and how you are so ready to be done with finals.
Luke and I don't have any plans this weekend, which is fine with me. I need to sit on the couch and not talk to anybody.
I got a couple of new magazines, and fully intend to fill my mind with trash, and figure out whether Jon cheated on Kate, which by the way I totally think he did.
Also, I am craving Mexican food, so I plan on satisfying this craving.
Jillian, I am taking a break from you, Mexican food is calling my name, and well, I have priorities.
Hope you have a great weekend!
Happy Mother's day to all you mother's out there!!!
Love you Mom! Thanks for always being there when I need you:
Oh that's the worst feeling waking up like that - hope the rest of your day is on time!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your quiet weekend. I made the enchiladas you talked about a few weeks back--delicious! Those could satisfy any craving for Mexican.
ReplyDeleteAww I hope you get to relax this weekend! And yay for Mexican food!! We are getting some tonight - break from Jillian as well :)
ReplyDeleteYou look gorgeous in your dress!! So tiny!
Don't you just hate the small talk questions that surround graduation!
ReplyDeleteI'm in the midst of it right now too. And I still have multiple high school graduation conversations to come! Oh joy :)
You asked what I ended up changing my major to during my senior year. I went from student teaching to finish my elementary ed degree to Public relations...best choice I ever made even though it set back my graduation date back by a year. Hard work but A LOT less tears!
Oh I hate waking up like that!! It's the worst!
ReplyDeleteOh he totally cheated on her!!!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
Is it crazy that I've been having a quarter life crisis for my entire 20's?!?!
With everything in me I don't want to think that Jon cheated on Kate!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
