The Quest for Comfy Clothes

I have to confess something. Well first, I feel like I do a lot of confessing on my blog. Why do I feel comfortable confessing to people I have never met?? My mom says I reveal waaay too much on my blog.

Ok, anyways, I have to confess, when my part of the world turns cold (and I’m talking like 65 degrees) I LIVE in comfy clothes.

Of course I have to wear nice clothes to work (although the other day when it was raining I wore my Uggs with my nice gray pants, and nice black shirt. I planned on changing into my heels, but the sheepskin on my feet was to comfortable, I never made it into my heels).

But as soon as I get home from work I put on my comfy black pants and a comfortable sweatshirt and I’m done for the night.

I have realized something that disturbs me, just because it is cold outside doesn’t mean that life around me stops. I still have errands to run, small groups to attend, friends to visit, and places to go eat, all in the FREEZING COLD.

So don’t kid yourself, I go to the majority of these places in my comfy clothes.

The other day, when the seasons changed and there was a chill in the air I pulled out my comfy clothes for the very first time this year! I was so thrilled to welcome them back to my life, but as I was putting on my comfy clothes I heard Luke mutter “Back to old faithful, ”

Excuse me? Apparently my black sweatpants I have had since high school and my sweatshirt with stains on it don't impress him anymore.

Geez what does it take these days? Boys are so picky.

So I need your help. Where do you buy comfy clothes that are affordable? I need some pants that will keep me warm in the winter but still look presentable. I need to invest in some more comfy clothes and get rid of my worn out black pants. Oh how I will miss them.

  1. haha - I think I was reading about my life today. I am the exact same way when it gets cold. I turn to the comfy clothes and hubby lets me know how unattractive it is. I try to stay dressed nicely until he gets home, but he is in law class until 9 or later - I can't still be dressed up that late! How am I supposed to do stuff around the house in heels? Let me know if you get any good leads on attractive comfy clothes!!!

  2. I'm not exactly sure what your required dress code is at work, but I must say, you can never go wrong with Banana Republic. They have a great pinstipe ankle pant right now that is a wool blend, so it is instantly warmer than just a poly-blend. Also, cashmere is so warm, but breathable, so if you are looking for some good cashmere you can invest in Dillard's line of Kahterine Kelly or Prive cashmere sweaters. They come in so many different styles and colors. Also, Old Navy is carrying their cashmere again this year, and it is uber-affordable.
I'm not sure of your personal style, but tights are very in still this season. Those with boots make for some great warmth and they can be dressed up or down. The main thing I do is layers, that way if I go somewhere that is terribly hot I can always peel something off.
Also, I'm loving J Crew's cold weather apparel this season! They have a hot pink coat that is to die for!

  3. I'd say try Victoria Secret for their comfy clothes. Their PINK line has a lot of cute stuff, and it's really not that expensive. J.Crew has cute stuff too!

    Have a great weekend!

  5. Oh I love this...I have the same problems. Apparently my comfy, bleach-stained sweat pants, and t-shirts with holes in them from college are not really acceptable outside of the 4 walls of our house. Victoria's Secret is definitely a great idea! I have asked for cute comfy clothes from Santa...hopefully he's nice to me!

  6. Are you and I the same person?!?

I was just thinking this today as I looked down at my black sweatpants (two sizes to big) and long sleeve Go Greek T-Shirt in a freakin size XL. Poor husband has to see me like this!! I'm going to be coming back to check this post for everyones suggestions!

  7. Oh I am SOOOOO like you! Sweats (usually Justin's that are too big, but so comfy!) are my BFFs in the winter! I love those velous suits- you can get them just about anywhere these days. They're my favorite- especially the ones with the hoods!

  8. So funny you should mention comfy clothes this evening.
I got home from work and just kept my slacks & nicer top on and immediately started cooking chicken and noodles. They take so long and I just wanted to keep at it. My mom is sick and I knew that'd make her feel better. After a good hour and a half in the kitchen I went to my room and walked out in my Thunder t-shirt (royal blue) and my pink pajama bottoms....black fuzzy socks....no bra ;) and my husband looked at me and said..."Comfy?"
(I bet your mom is really thinking I reveal too much info.) :)
    Have a great weekend!

  9. I need this advice, too. My favorite thing (that my husband HATES) is a sweatshirt from my freshman year in college. It is more than 15 years old!!!! It has holes everywhere and he has forbidden me to wear it out of the house. But I sneak out to Sonic in it every once in a while!!!

  12. I know what you mean! As I type this I'm wearing red pajama paints with black poodles printed on them, fuzzy brown socks and a gray long sleeved t-shirt. Not real cute. But I'm sick! And this is warm!!!

  13. How funny! But I am totally the same way. As soon as I get home from work, I toss my heels and head straight for the elastic waists! :)
