I Need You!

One of my favorite aspects of the Christmas season is Christmas Cards.

Growing up my mom always took pictures of my sisters and I to use for our yearly Christmas Card. During the younger years of life this process was somewhat painful (seriously, who wants to wear matching outfits with your younger sisters when you are 12) Then she would send our picture with a card to all of our friends and family wishing them a Merry Christmas with lots of joy and cheer.

After my mom sent out our Christmas Card then I knew the time was coming when pretty soon we would be receiving lots of cards in the mail. I would check the mail every day to see what cards we got. I loved to look at the pictures of family and friends and read the Christmas Newsletters that came with them. Which by the way I am a BIG fan of Christmas Newsletters. I love reading letters from families updating us on the happenings of their lives throughout the past year. Maybe that is why I love blogs so much?

So this is where your help is needed. This is my first year to send out a Christmas Card for the new family that Luke and I have together (the Tree's). But I don't know which picture to use.
Should I use a wedding picture of not?
Should I use a candid picture?
Am I over-thinking this?
etc. etc.

These are questions I keep asking, but I don't know the answers. So I need your help.

Below I have posted 3 very different pictures. Please tell me which one I should use for our christmas pictures.
Yes, this is a very vain post, but I am desperate!

Picture #1 A wedding picturePicture #2 Taken a couple of weeks ago when we took pictures with my fam for my mom's Christmas card (taken by the fabulous melanie)Picture #3, Just a candid picture taken of us at a recent football game
Just let me know which of these 3 you think would be the best one for our card. Whichever one has the most votes I will use!!
Thanks for your help!

By the way, we are back from our unexpected road trip and had a great time! I will be updating about it shortly.

  1. I say use a wedding picture. This will be the only year you can do that and have it make sense! You have the rest of your lives to use other professional or candid pictures, right??

I saw some really use cards where couples who were recently married used phrases like "merry, merry...married!" instead of writing happy holidays or something. It'd be cute to do something like that!!

(btw all the pictures are really cute though)

  2. I love them all!! But it really depends on your personalities! For Dan and my first Christmas card, I used a sweet one of the two of us and in the corner, there was room for a smaller, slightly angled pic (I used Walmart.com) and I put one of us kissing from our wedding (since it was the year we got married) --

It really is all about who YOU are (fun, formal, casual...) what do you want to express to your friends and family?

  3. I like picture number two. I like the outdoorsy look and the colors.

  4. If I had to pick my favorite picture- it would be number 2. BUT...this is the one and only year you can use a wedding photo, so I would pick the wedding picture, which is also super cute.
I'm trying to get our Christmas cards in order too and decided to use a wedding picture since this is the one year you can use it, plus who doesn't like a wedding photo?

  5. I say go with a wedding pic. Believe me, you are not overthinking this at all. I have been going back and forth too trying to figure out if I use a candid pic or a wedding pic. Since it's our first Christmas, I think I'm going to go with the wedding pic. I saw a pic that used "merry, merry, married" too and I loved it! Good luck and post them when you decide :)

  6. I would use the wedding picture. Like every said this is the only time that it would make sense for you to use it. I used a wedding photo last year for our cards. I used a black and white one so it would look good with Christmas colors. Just an idea!

  7. I LOVE pic #1! I would totally go with that one.
We were actually thinking of using a photo card this year...funny!

p.s. I noticed they're moving the shingle people over to your place. We were lucky enough to get the banging and hammering early Sat morning...yuck! Maybe they'll do it while you're at work :)

Hope you're having a great weekend!

  8. I would go with # 1! We are doing a wedding photo for our Christmas cards! When are you sending yours out?

  9. I'm gonna go with the wedding picture.

  10. I think that they are all adorable, but since you asked, I would say the wedding picture! I am a sucker for wedding pictures, and that one of you and your hubby is beautiful!:)

  11. Here's our philosophy as a newlywed couple: what's somethig big that happened this year? Since we're sending cards to pretty the people that were at our wedding & they all received cards of at our wedding. So we're having our pictures done at our home b/c that's something big that happened to us- we bought a home! So- I saw go with the wedding pic!

  12. Oh you are tapping in on my poor decision making skills!

After careful consideration, I am going to say your wedding pic - it is SO gorgeous and it will probably be the only year you can use it (although it would be funny to send it out in a few years to shake things up).

They are all great though! I can see the dilemma in choosing.

Can't wait to hear about the weekend!

  13. I love them all and you couldn't go wrong sending any of them, but I am leaning toward #2. I love the outdoor view in the picture and you and Luke look amazing! I love the red shirt you have on, too!

Whatever you decide, all of your friends and family are going to love them because you have 3 great choices!

  15. I love a good Christmasy shot in a Christmas card - I say #2 - beautiful!

  16. I say the wedding picture - this is the ONLY year you can use it and it sums up what your year was all about. I love them all but I think the wedding picture is absolutely stunning!!!

  17. i love christmas cards too!! last year i did a multiple choice "quiz" instead of a letter. anyway, i love the wedding pic! definitely go with that one!! it's the only year you get to use that pic, so do it now while you can!

  18. My favourite picture is the second one as it looks so warm and loving and natural and you both look lovely! ... but as others have said this is the only year you can use the wedding photo AND it's probably the biggest event that's happened to you this year AND it would be fab for people to keep ... AND you both look lovely in it too! ... So, I would go for the first picture!

  19. Well, at first I was going to pick number 2! BUT, after reading the other comments about putting "merry, merry....married", I'm changing my opinion to the wedding picture! I love that idea!! So fun! We just started doing Christmas cards last year, after our little one was born! Still haven't ventured into the world of Christmas newsletters, though I LOVE to get them and read all the news! :)

  20. I vote for the wedding photo, as well! Very cute, and like everyone else said, it's the only year that you can use it, and it's a really great picture!

  21. everytime I leave a message..it's complicated...

use #2 its Christmasy but do you want everyone to think that you had an engagement pictures, wedding pictures and christmas pictures in one year...

    ReplyDelete
  22. Wow, I'm torn. I really like picture #2. I think it looks really Christmasy and would be perfect for a Christmas card. However, I love the wedding pic too and I agree with other posters that this is the only year you'll think that's an option. It just depends on whether the wedding picture thing is important to you. For instance, I didn't use a wedding picture for our first Christmas card, and I've never thought twice about it.
Sorry this probably didn't help much, but I can't wait to hear what you decide! I guess I would say my overall vote is for pic #2.

  23. I love #2! They are all beautiful but there's just something about that second one!

    ReplyDelete
  24. My vote is for the wedding picture. We've received Christmas cards with wedding pictures from couples who were married that year. I love them and I love that picture of y'all, but who am I kidding...they all are good!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I say for sure for sure use pic numero dos! My reason behind this is that A-most of the people who get your letter were at the wedding or have seen wedding pics, and B- that pic is just so super cute!! I love it!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I love them all but my vote is for the 3rd one.. It is you and him during your everyday life.. While the others are beautiful.. I like the this is us, HAPPY on a normal day look..lol. I am a dork I know..

I love love love Karen Kingsbury!! I have read everyone of her books.. just waiting on my friend to finish up the last one to pass it on to me..

Oh, I so loved TWILIGHT!! I have seen it 3 times.. I know, a bit obsessive.. but people keep asking me to go with them... How can I say no? Have you seen it? I so wish you could get into the books ... Do you remember that picture I sent you.. of Jacob from the movie.. I said it looked like your husband? .. When I first seen him in the movie.. I said, Ugh. He doesn't look like Megans Husband at all here.. and my friend was like what? lol - I had to show her once I got home.. Ha. To funny!

  27. It's between the 1st & 2nd one. This would be the only year you could use your wedding one, so maybe you should go with that one!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Heck do a collage of them all! haha! If I HAD to pick I would go with the wedding one - but they are all great! You are so photogenic!

    ReplyDelete
  29. OK... for our christmas cards I used a wedding picture and a more recent picture of the two of us.. On walmart.come they have a few designs where you can use 2. One of the slots is bigger so I used the wedding pic there and then in the right hand corner is a smaller slot for a picture and I put one of us from our Seattle trip in that one. Best of both worlds:)I say your 1 and 3 - together:)
All the pictures are adorable by the way:)

  30. gosh, they are all so cute! you guys are a gorgeous couple. love your blog btw!

  31. I would use your wedding picture. It's beautiful. Although, so are the other two. The card will be perfect no matter what picture you use!

    ReplyDelete
  32. I love them all! I would say my fave is the candid shot!

    ReplyDelete
  33. You should post an official voting poll, I say #2! Even tho I love your wedding photo, #2 seems like the best choice for the Christmas card.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I am so behind on my comments, but I go with number 2 - it is very Christmasy!

    ReplyDelete
  35. this is a little late but #2 is beautiful!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Man, I love them all!! I really do! I think the second one is my fav if I have to pick...but I like the idea of using the wedding pic this year! You're definitely in a win-win-win situation!
