Your Walk

Throughout the past couple of months I have "met" so many AMAZING women through my blog. Seriously, women who write posts that are DEEP. Posts that encourage me in my walk with the Lord. Sometimes I just sit back at my computer amazed that God just spoke to me through a blog post! Of all things! I love how God uses technology!

Anyways - my reason for writing this post is hear what you do:

Explanation: How do you spend time with the Lord?

Do you do it first thing in the morning?
At night before you go to bed?
At Lunch?
What is your routine? Do you read a devotional? Do you spend time in scripture? Do you keep a journal? Do you type it on the computer?
Also, How do you keep a prayer journal?
I take each prayer request seriously, and never want to say that I am praying for someone if I do not fully intend to be praying for them. How do you keep your prayer request for others organized?

I have to admit, that during the wedding planning, my time with the Lord got neglected at times. This is not something I am proud of and since life has slowed down I have been more obedient in this area. I am looking foward to hearing how you spend time with God and learning from each one of you.

Please feel free to email me. My email is in my profile.

Thank you!!

P.S. Sorry if this seems like a lot of questions: I just love to get other people's prespectives! I'm always intrigued by others. I'm the girl who sent out an email last year to family and friends asking how often they washed their bras. I was really curious, (this question came as a result of a conversation I had with my roommate and dear friend Tambra). Turns out people wash their bras a lot. I am still working on it. Apparently once every six months just isn't normal.

  1. This is off the subject but I haven't been on your blog in a long time and I just had to tell you that you were a BEAUTIFUL bride. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your dress - and your pictures were GORGEOUS. Loved your bridesmaid dresses too (and the necklaces).
    Hope newlywed life is wonderful!

  2. Hey girl, the Burt's Bee's shampoo is called super shiny but I have to warn you that it doesn't lather!!! It's kinda weird, but I like that its all natural...

So glad you stopped back by! Added you to my blogroll so I can keep up with you!

  3. And now to respond to YOUR blog...I actually do have to journal to pray, otherwise my prayer ADD kicks in and I start thinking of other things. That said, I love to have it all written down so when I look back I can see all He has done in my life!

I was JUST thinking this morning about the "I'm praying for you" statement and how I want it to be something I ONLY say authentically, not just out of a knee jerk response! Funny you were thinking the same thing!

About the time of day, I know that most people recommend the mornings, but I'm so much more "settled" at night and absorb more.

    What about you?

  4. Ok, I am so laughing about the bra thing! I guess I need to work on that too =)

I'm going to email you about the other stuff!

  5. Megan,

I'm not sure how I found your blog...but I've been reading for a few weeks now! My friend Shauna did your layout, so maybe that's how I got here.... Anyway, you were a BEAUTIFUL bride!

I live in Edmond and I see that you are in OK too!!

I too have been thinking about the prayer thing a lot lately. I used to keep a journal and I would write out my prayers each evening. I want to get back into this practice. It is so cool when I go back and read what was going on and how God answered my prayers. I may email you can email me if you would like too! My email is in my profile as well!!

    Have a great evening!

  6. Megan- I am sorry I am just getting caught up on your blog! I will e-mail you about the Quiet time stuff!
    Love ya!

  7. Girl, I am with you on the bra thing. For some reason I don't think they get as dirty as regular clothes, even tho I have two that I wear all the time. Call me gross, but I might wash them once every few weeks. LOL

  8. Below is what is ideal, not what actually happens day in and day out. This is how I would love for it to go, but sometimes I sleep in, sometimes I don't have enough time, sometimes I don't feel like it. It's in those times when it must happen, but often it doesn't.

    My perfect morning with God:

If I don't do it in the morning, I half ass it at night. God deserves my best and the first - morning is it for me.

I pray first, short and sweet - for God to bless my time, give me an open heart, show me and guide me through the time I'm giving him, etc. Then I read a devotional, read the text surrounding that devotional, read a passage (not a chapter, just one section under bolded words) (right now I'm doing John). I then memorize my verse for the day. Then I pray over the requests I have written. Sometimes I mix things up, often I'll throw in 2 or 3 songs of praise. It varies. I find that I have to have structure or I'll be all over the place, but not enough to hinder anything. I don't keep a prayer journal, however I do try (and fail a lot) to journal throughout the day. I changed my prayer time to a long list. Each time someone asks me to pray, I add it to the list. For ex:

    -satisfaction in Christ alone
-Jordan, college, new friends, risks, her fast - breakthroughs
-Megan, job, marriage-Christ is center, relationships at work.
-Direction to fulfill my vision of homeless ministry (who, what, when, where, how)
-Ashlee, NY, job, direction & peace, living?
-eyes open to opportunities, discernment to know which ones to take, which ones to leave

    etc, etc, etc.

Those are actual things on my prayer list. I know that's a super long example, but that's what I've changed it to. Sometimes I'll just read them aloud to God and ask these things, other time I'll stop and go into detail. Then, whenever God answers a prayer, I mark it off the list and write thank you above it in a different color. I've found that the list keeps growing but requests keep getting marked off as quickly as they come on.

Again, this is in a perfect world what I would do. It's a growing process though. I love that you care enough about your time with God that you're asking the question. I respect that a lot.
